When purchasing a full-size SUV, you want plenty of room to stretch out for those long drives. Both of these models are comfortable, but the 2020 Nissan Armada provides more legroom and headroom in the front seat to suit taller passengers. Third-row passengers also win in the Armada with almost two extra inches of headroom. Keep hands warm in chilly weather with a heated steering wheel on the Armada, which isn’t available on the Sequoia.
Modern drivers appreciate the benefits that technology provides for travels. From a power liftgate which is an available option on the 2020 Nissan Armada but not available on the Toyota, to the keyless start of both models, drivers enjoy these little conveniences. Heated power mirrors are standard on both models, but only the Armada has power folding mirrors. Listen to your entertainment in either model with a stereo, but only the Armada still provides a CD player. Satellite radio is standard on the bae trims of both models while the Nissan adds a premium sound system as standard from the lowest trim. A navigation system to direct you to your destination is also standard across all trims with the Nissan while it’s only an option at the base trim for the Sequoia.
Both models are similar when it comes to efficiency and can travel about the same distance on a tank of gas. Nissan and Toyota equipped their SUVs with powerful V8 engines with the 2020 Nissan Armada edging out the Sequoia for power just slightly at 390 horsepower over the 381 horsepower of the Toyota. The Armada is also slightly faster with the ability to go from zero to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds while it takes the Sequoia 6.7 seconds. Stopping is just as important and the Armada stands out in this area. According to Motor Trend, it can go down from 60 mph to 0 in 123 feet while the Sequoia takes 139 feet for a complete stop. Bring along a bigger RV with the Nissan model with a towing capacity of 8,500 pounds over the 7,400 pounds of the Toyota.
Feel confident behind the wheel of either SUV since both come with numerous systems for safety. The 2020 Nissan Armada includes a back-seat reminder to remind you that your little one is still inside. The Toyota model doesn’t offer this feature. Another bonus with the Armada is whiplash protection with the active head restraints, which you don’t get with the Sequoia. Both models offer a rearview camera, but the Armada takes it a step further with backup collision prevention braking.
